Of all the major US cities, Los Angeles is the city we most recommend renting a car when visiting. Rates are cheap and all of the major car rental chains include unlimited miles in California. A convertible perhaps?

Shuttle services are the cheapest and most relaxing way to get from the airport to basically anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area. Avoid the taxi hassle. The two main providers are Super Shuttle and Prime Time. We recommend both.
